Privacy Policy

I take your privacy very seriously and value your visits to my blog ElaineWShaw.com. I want you to know that I will only use your personal information to provide an occasional newsletter, which may or may not contain offers of products or services produced by Elaine W Shaw. The only information I collect for this purpose is your email address and your name. I do not deliberately share anyone’s personal details with third parties.

However, as my blog is run through wordpress.com, and I use Google analytics, and Mail Chimp to distribute my newsletters, they do hold more information about you than I do. If you would like any further information, or if there is anything you are unsure about, then please do not hesitate to contact me directly here.

You have the Right to Access any information I hold about you and you also have the Right to Have Your Information Permanently Deleted. If you wish to enforce any of these rights please contact me directly and I will endeavour to provide the necessary information, and action the your requirement as soon as possible.

What personal data is collected and why

Comments

 

When visitors leave comments on my site the data shown in the comments form is collected along with the IP address and the browser user agent string to help in spam detection.

 

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here.  After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Media

 

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, as other Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

 

If you have an account and you log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Who we share your data with and How long we retain your data

 

 

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

 

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
