Profound words, but what does taking care of yourself actually mean, and why is it so important? Taking care of yourself emotionally and spiritually is a gift that you give to yourself, it is a measure of your self-worth and self-esteem, and it can be so much fun. Its not about vanity or selfishness, but more about valuing yourself, and nurturing and growing self-appreciation and self-respect. So today do something or you, it can be something that appears small but in effect it will be huge, because it is the start of your awareness…Awareness that you matter, that you are important, that your happiness counts…
So, are you ready for some fun…List at least 10 small things that you love to do, and set an intention to give yourself at least 10-15 minutes everyday to spend on you and your list. it could be a quiet walk, time to read, a bath with candles and a glass of bubbly, your favourite treat etc…and then commit to to giving yourself that time. Choose one thing off your list each day, or each week, it doesn’t matter – What matters is that you commit to that time for you, and you actually give yourself that time…
Gradually update your list with more things hat you love to do that may take longer than 10-15 minutes, but don’t let time get in the way, just keep adding to your list…It might include a trip to the cinema or the theatre, coffee at the swanky new coffee shop in town, time to manicure your nails, a shopping trip with friends, watch your favourite film, or go to a music recital, it might be to enroll in a class and learn something new. You get the idea…..Remember its your list…As you write your list, smile and tell yourself, “you deserve it,” … because you do.
